Our Part in Sustainability

Our Mission

As an independent IT system integrator, sustainability means making responsible, future-oriented decisions – in how we design, implement, and support technology. We are committed to reducing environmental impact, promoting digital responsibility, and creating long-term value for people, communities, and the planet.

We stand behind the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. To demonstrate our commitment, we have established a dedicated Sustainability Board and focus specifically on the enlisted goals.

The content of this publication has not been approved by the United Nations and does not reflect the views of the United Nations or its officials or Member States.

Our CEO Chris Nickerson reflects on sustainability from two angles.
As a responsible business leader:

“It is our responsibility to make decisions today that will positively effect people and society in the future. Sustainability is not just about going more good but also doing less harm.”

… and in the context of Damovo’s corporate mission:

“For Damovo, sustainability means embedding ESG and innovation into every solution we deliver, so our customers can thrive securely and responsibly in a digital-first world.”

Our SDG’s in focus

SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being

We promote a healthy work environment through ergonomic workplaces, mental health awareness, and work-life balance initiatives.

SDG 5 – Gender Equality

We are committed to equal opportunities, inclusive hiring, and supporting the development of women in tech and leadership.

SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

We create high-quality jobs in the digital sector, support fair working conditions, and drive sustainable innovation.

SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities

We foster diversity, inclusion, and accessibility – both within our teams and in the digital solutions we build.

SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

We extend the life of IT systems, reduce e-waste, and advise clients on sustainable technology use.

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals

We collaborate with partners, clients, and initiatives that share our values and drive sustainability through collective action.

Upcoming Projects

We are continuously working to strengthen our sustainability practices — both strategically and in daily operations. As part of our commitment to transparent reporting, we are preparing for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) with the support of Cority, aiming for full compliance by 2027.

In parallel, we foster employee well-being through our Health@Damovo programme, which includes initiatives like in-office vision checks, ergonomic consultations, stress diagnostics, and active breaks.

We also actively promote a more inclusive work culture through internal diversity workshops, encouraging dialogue, awareness, and equitable collaboration across teams.

Our Goals

Design energy-efficient IT infrastructures

We aim to prioritize solutions that minimize energy consumption – from selecting low-energy hardware to optimizing data center operations and cloud architectures.

Extend the lifecycle of IT systems

We promote modular, upgradable, and service-friendly solutions to help clients reduce electronic waste and make better use of existing assets.

Choose responsible partners and vendors

We work only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical practices, environmental standards, and human rights.

Enable digital responsibility

We support our clients in implementing IT strategies that are secure, inclusive, accessible, and sustainable for the long term.

Reduce our own environmental footprint

We continuously optimize our operations – from business travel to office energy use – to reduce emissions and resource consumption.

Achieving digital success for your business is about more than technology. It’s about challenging assumptions, developing skills, changing attitudes and constantly building for the future. It’s about people. It’s about strategy. For more than 50 years, our role has been to bring technology, people and strategy together to drive businesses forward.

Partner

We also work with partners who share our commitment to sustainability. Cisco integrates circular design and net-zero goals into its product strategy. Our collaboration with Cority supports digital ESG processes and helps lay the foundation for CSRD-compliant sustainability reporting.

Cisco: Sustainability in Focus

Through our partnership with Cisco, we actively support circular IT strategies. As a certified Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialization partner, Damovo helps clients return and recycle end-of-life equipment, reducing electronic waste and lowering environmental impact.

We see sustainable IT not just as a technical feature but as a responsibility we share with our clients. As a certified Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialization partner, we use Cisco’s circular programmes to help organisations reduce e-waste, extend device lifecycles and rethink IT as part of a broader climate strategy. This partnership enables us to embed sustainability into every stage of the technology lifecycle and turn environmental goals into measurable outcomes.

Accountability in Practice

To ensure that our sustainability ambitions are not just aspirational but grounded in action, we align ourselves with internationally recognised frameworks and standards. Damovo is a proud participant in the United Nations Global Compact, supporting its ten principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. This commitment reinforces our responsibility as a global technology provider and guides our decision-making across all areas of the business.

Our dedication to measurable progress is reflected in the external certifications we hold – including the Green Energy Certificate and a rating from EcoVadis, which assesses our performance in key areas such as environmental impact, ethical conduct, and sustainable procurement. These benchmarks help us track our efforts and hold ourselves accountable.

Internally, our approach is governed by a dedicated Sustainability Policy that defines the principles and priorities we apply to reduce our footprint, work ethically, and foster long-term value. It is complemented by employee-focused initiatives such as Health@Damovo, which promotes well-being, mental health awareness, and a balanced working culture as part of our broader sustainability commitment.

100% Green Power

Since 1 May 2024, Damovo Germany has been exclusively sourcing certified green electricity from hydropower – provided through the TÜV NORD-certified product “Komfortstrom Klima Natur” by Vattenfall.
This electricity is generated entirely from environmentally friendly hydropower plants and meets the requirements of EU Directive 2009/28/EC through documented guarantees of origin.

With this step, we actively contribute to climate protection and a more sustainable energy future in Europe.

Verified Sustainability Performance

Damovo participates in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment to continuously strengthen our environmental, social and ethical performance. The evaluation covers key areas such as environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Taking part in this independent assessment supports our ambition to operate responsibly and transparently across our value chain.

Take the Stairs Challange

For two weeks, Damovo employees across all regions chose the stairs over the lift — at home, in the office or while travelling.

The challenge promoted movement in everyday life, supported personal well-being and brought teams closer together.

From spontaneous photos to new routines, it became a fun way to rethink daily habits and energise the workday.

Charity Fun Walk in Sandyford

As part of Health@Damovo and the Sandyford Business District Wellness Week 2025, the Damovo Ireland team took part in this year’s Charity Fun Walk at Leopardstown Racecourse.

The event brought colleagues together in support of four local charities, combining fresh air, connection and shared purpose.

With participants from across the business district, the walk reflected Damovo’s commitment to community, well-being and local impact.

Health@Damovo

JobBike and Active Breaks

As part of our Health@Damovo initiatives, we promote active routines both in and outside the workplace.

Through the JobBike programme, employees can lease bikes at attractive conditions, encouraging greener commutes and more movement in daily life

In the office, our guided active breaks offer simple ways to recharge, reduce tension and support long-term well-being.

Health@Damovo

Healthy Eating Day

As part of our Health@Damovo programme, colleagues were invited to explore how nutrition affects well-being and long-term health.

In collaboration with Techniker Krankenkasse, the event focused on practical topics – from intermittent fasting to nutrition during menopause.

Expert talks provided insights into sustainable eating habits, metabolic health and how nutrition supports energy and life transitions.

Mindful Moments at Damovo

As part of our “Tip of the Week” series, Damovo colleagues had the opportunity to experience a guided session on progressive muscle relaxation led by our expert in relaxation techniques.

The programme combined theory, gentle physical awareness and a calming visual journey.

It was available as a recorded session in English and a live session in German, open to all colleagues regardless of language level.
