From 13 to 15 October, we will be demonstrating live at the Smart Country Convention in Berlin for the first time what sovereign communication can look like without a patchwork approach: the Damovo SovereignStack, on display in Hall 26 at Stand 539. I’d like to take this opportunity to explain why we’re taking this approach and what lies behind the platform.
Digital sovereignty has long ceased to be a peripheral issue in many public administrations and has instead become a requirement that no one can ignore. The only question is: How can it be implemented without ending up with a patchwork of individual solutions that employees have to struggle with in their daily work?
This is exactly the area of tension that I encounter time and again in conversations with public authorities and public sector clients. The desire for sovereignty is there, often even formulated very specifically. But as soon as every application, from chat solutions to video conferencing, is made sovereign individually and independently of one another, it creates exactly the patchwork that no one actually wanted. For users, this means constantly switching between systems, different logins and, in the end, less rather than more acceptance of the new, sovereign tools.
One Platform Instead of Many Isolated Solutions
With the Damovo SovereignStack, we are taking a different approach. We bring messaging, video and audio conferencing as well as telephony together in a shared working environment: Rocket.Chat for messaging and collaboration, Pexip for conferencing, and, for example, Mitel for telephony. Everything can be operated on an organisation’s own infrastructure, either on premises or air gapped, depending on the specific requirements of the public authority. Those who also want to use AI powered summaries or translations can connect language models on their own infrastructure as well, without sending data outside the organisation.
For users, this means one thing above all: a shared identity across all communication and an interface that feels like one cohesive environment, not like a collection of individual tools. Based on our current knowledge, SovereignStack is the first solution of its kind for the public sector in Germany that meets this standard in this form.
SovereignStack Live at Smart Country Convention 2026
For the first time, we will be showcasing SovereignStack live at a trade show, at Smart Country Convention from 13 to 15 October in Berlin. At our stand in Hall 26, Stand 539, our Solution Architects will demonstrate the platform and also explain the architecture behind it for anyone who wants to take a closer look. On all three days of the event, colleagues from Rocket.Chat, Pexip and Mitel will also be available to answer questions.
If you would like to schedule a meeting in advance or simply stop by spontaneously: I look forward to connecting with you in person.
