What is the Damovo SovereignStack?

The Damovo SovereignStack enables secure communication for government agencies and public organisations. It combines highly secure technologies for chat, digital workspaces, video conferencing and telephony into a seamless communication environment.

Rocket.Chat provides messaging, channels and digital workspaces. Pexip enables audio and video conferencing. An existing on-premises PBX can be integrated depending on its technical interfaces, for example a telephony solution from Mitel.

Damovo plans the architecture and handles the technical and organisational integration. The solution is not implemented according to a rigid standard model but is tailored to the existing infrastructure and the specific security requirements. Where necessary, organisations, clients or security zones can be mapped to separate operational and security domains with their own identities, access rules and responsibilities.

An overview of the components

Each component in the SovereignStack performs clearly defined tasks. Damovo connects the systems to form a secure communication environment.

Rocket.Chat Secure CommsOS ® unifies messaging, voice, video and governed AI in one sovereign platform. Open source and fully inspectable, so you own your deployment, not just your data.

Native Matrix and XMPP federation lets agencies connect from their own systems.

Deploy on-premises, air-gapped or in a sovereign cloud, built for GDPR and NIS2.

Pexip complements the SovereignStack with secure audio and video conferencing. The self-hosted video communication platform enables sovereign, resilient and interoperable video communication.

Existing room systems and technology platforms can be seamlessly interconnected. This enables organisations to communicate across system boundaries without compromising their requirements for control and protection.

A PBX forms the basis for sovereign telephony within the SovereignStack. This could be, for example, a telephony solution from Mitel. Depending on the available interfaces, other existing on-premises PBX systems can also be integrated.

Telephony functions such as number management, routing and communication control remain within the telephony infrastructure. This integrates voice communication into the shared user experience.

Yes. SovereignStack offers public sector organisations an alternative if, following the end of support for Skype for Business Server 2015 and 2019, they wish not merely to switch to the Subscription Edition but to redesign their communications architecture.

Microsoft continues to support Skype for Business via the Server Subscription Edition. This continues the existing Microsoft architecture with ongoing licensing and continuous updates. The SovereignStack, on the other hand, offers a modular approach with open interfaces, various deployment options and integration provided by Damovo.

Which compliance requirements does SovereignStack support?

The SovereignStack combines technologies with documented security and compliance features.

Rocket.Chat is certified to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II and supports requirements under the GDPR and NIS2 through access controls, data retention and audit logging.

Pexip holds certifications such as ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, FIPS 140-3, ANSSI, ENS and GDPR.

What role does Damovo play?

Damovo analyses the requirements, develops the target architecture and integrates Rocket.Chat and Pexip with the existing on-premises PBX as well as with identity, network and security systems.
